AI is overrated. By Stanley Dean Thomas
Do you believe that AI is the future?
Do you think that AI will take over the majority of industries?
Do you think that 90% of jobs will eventually be replaced by AI? Well these beliefs are shared by millions of people.
And while it definitely looks that way, that AI will take over many businesses, it's also a very difficult challenge for this to happen.
Many people think that everything is going to be done away with and that no human being will have any kind of a job in the future, and that we'll all be paid universal basic income.
But the problem is this, AI is not human. It cannot fully replicate what a human being can do.
The reason why AI has taken off and has grown at such a large rate as it has so far in 2025, is because of the fact that many companies and many executives and CEO's and entrepreneurs want to change the businesses in which they operate.
They want to design them to where they won't need a person to handle repetitive tasks.
They want to do away with the need to hire a single person just to turn a screw.
They don't want to hire people just to do a simple repetitive motion filled task that has to be done over and over one million times.
They figured out a long time ago that robots can do those things.
But not only that, they can also do certain tasks that may take a little bit of thought that can be repetitive.
Basic decisions like, what are we going to have for lunch?, or questions such as “what is the number to the HR department?”
Business leaders much rather have a machine to answer those questions.
Also mundane things like doing research where you have to go online and look up other companies and businesses and other sources in order to do research on a particular topic can be done by AI.
Scientists have discovered how to get the computer to think about those tasks and to complete them using AI of course.
But the thing is this, certain jobs are just not going to be functional with AI .
You’re still going to need a human being to think rationally, someone who has a moral compass, who can also look at a situation, and analyze the situation, and think on their feet, make a decision and act.
AI is not ready to do all of this.
Now AI can do a good job at going out and fetching some information online and bringing it back to you.
Also, AI can record a conversation you're having with someone and also learn about what you do and what the other person does and make decisions on what may be best for you to do.
AI is also programmed to make suggestions based on the input it receives.
But how can AI replace journalism for example.
With Journalism, you may have a war going on in the country and you have a journalist on the ground reporting the story of what is going on.
Now how can AI do that?
If you give the task over to AI, it may fabricate the story which would make it a false story at that point.
How could AI be in the clergy industry?
How are you going to have AI perform as a priest and pray over people?
Now AI can preach a good sermon.
There are hours and hours and days and days of good sermons online that AI can study to learn how to preach.
But AI isn't something that has a spiritual conviction where it can recognize who God is and have a deep relationship with Christ.
AI cannot have a deep relationship with Allah or any other God.
If anything AI would be the very thing that could be used to replace God because of its broad scope of what it can do.
But AI is not a good Bishop, Deacon, or pastor, or someone who can serve in the church to administer to the lost.
Nor could AI lay hands on someone and pray to facilitate healing on someone.
I don't know, maybe scientists are working on a way for AI to do just that.
But AI along with robotics have some very serious limitations when it comes to doing very difficult tasks.
Businesses and companies are in such a rush to jump on the AI bandwagon.
They are laying off people in droves thinking that they will never need people ever again.
As a matter of fact, companies will only need a handful of people to direct this new AI thing.
I believe that many companies have rushed too fast to get rid of their people, thinking that they will no longer need anybody for anything.
They're going to have very few people on as directors and that’s it.
No human beings to do any kind of work will be available.
They just think that AI is going to do everything and do it better.
But they're going to be some problems with this AI.
Now sure AI can work 24/7 as long as it has electricity and some Grease for the machines and some decent programming like a good prompt.
Also AI won't need breaks.
They won't need food, air, or water.
They won't talk back and it's not concerned with time off or sick leave with sick pay.
Nor does it care about a 401k or retirement.
But that doesn't mean that AI is totally flawless, nor does it mean that AI can do anything and everything.
Hopefully our business leaders will realize this and retain some workers in their company because if we have some serious mishaps with AI,
we are all going to be in a worl
d of deep crap if we don't have people that can step back in to fix things and to pick up the slack………..
